Kenai River Log Home: $1,275,000 MLS #10-1906

Bean Creek Road

History

Built in 1996 by Ken and Nancy Jensen.

The Jensen Family spent summers in Cooper Landing beginning in the mid-1960s near Cooper Creek.

They purchased this river front property in 1995. At that time the property included a large boat house that was used to manufacture boats. The wood boats were tested and launched from the property.

The home sits upon solid steel pilings. The cedar logs were imported from a burned reservation forest in Washington. The wood was purchased with the condition that a craftsman elder from the Indian reservation would assist with the construction and use of the cedar logs.

The open floor plan features a spectacular view of Kenai River and mountains through grand thermopane windows. Attention to detail includes tongue and groove cedar ceilings. Custom wood circular stair case provides access to the loft. The view of Kenai River from the loft is indescribable. The loft can be closed off from the rest of the house with sliding doors.

All interior logs were sanded, refinished and oiled in 2009. All interior walls were professionally painted in 2009.

The evening sunset turns even more romantic with the flip of a switch. Imported antique post lamps light up the entire home's exterior. Many travelers heading north over the Kenai River bridge slow down to enjoy the view of the house as its lights reflect brilliantly off of the river.
